The Beaulieu River of Southern England is one of the most charming and fascinating area, situated on the South Coast of Hampshire. It is an internationally famous sailing location of the Solent. (A channel between the coast of the Isle of Wight and the mainland of southern England)
The Beaulieu River is personally owned by the Lord Montagu of Beaulieu since 1926, together with the foreshore, and much of the nearby countryside. Earlier it was a Crown property, but King John gave it to the monks who afterward founded the Beaulieu Abbey in the 13th century.
Starting close to Lyndhurst in the New Forest, it flows throughout the forest moorlands to Beaulieu where it becomes tidal. It flows throughout the forest to the significant ship building village of Buckler’s Hard, before ongoing to the sea throughout the Solent, where the doorway to the river is devoted by the Millennium Beacon.
Cowes is an extremely eminent sailing town on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, which is on the South West of the river entrance, just a few miles across the Solent. This is the location where the world’s biggest sailing races take place every summer.
